Lynchburg Fire Department Fire Station #4 B Shift and The Middle School Learning Center

This is a one-year Master Partnership between the Lynchburg Fire Department Fire Station #4 B Shift and the Middle School Learning Center. The partnership will be renewed annually upon review and mutual consent of all parties.
Plan Description:
This master partnership between the Lynchburg Fire Department – Fire Station # 4 B Shift and the Middle School Learning Center, will work to promote a positive image of the Fire Department by implementing educational programs for students which stress fire safety, first aid and career awareness.
Major Objectives:
- To encourage a positive image of the fire fighters and the job they perform
- To promote fire safety strategies and prevention measures to all Middle School Learning Center students, staff, parents and community
- To foster a mentorship atmosphere between positive adult service-oriented role models and students
- To promote basic first aid techniques
Major Activities:
- The Lynchburg Fire Department Fire Station # 4 B Shift will visit the Middle School Learning Center to present various fire safety and first aid programs including: EDITH (Escape Drills in the Home), 911 Program – Making the Right Call, and Learn Not to Burn.
- Fire Department – Fire Station # 4 B Shift will participate in school scheduled events and activities (schedule permitting).
- The Lynchburg Fire Department Fire Station # 4 B Shift firefighters will interact with students on a casual, one-on-one basis during lunch, incentive programs, and various special school sponsored activities and events.
- The Lynchburg Fire Department Fire Station # 4 B Shift will be available to present fire safety and fire prevention programs to school staff and parents.
- The Lynchburg Fire Department – Fire Station # 4 B Shift will participate in the Career Awareness Day at school by providing a representative to speak to the students on being a member of the fire fighting team.
- The Lynchburg Fire Department – Fire Station # 4 B Shift will assist with and witness practice fire drills conducted at the beginning of the school year.
- The Middle School Learning Center will provide student artwork for display at the fire station, birthday cards for fire fighters and EMTs on B Shift.
- Representatives from the Lynchburg Fire Department – Fire Station # 4 B Shift and the Middle School Learning Center will serve on a partnership planning committee to plan, monitor, and evaluate all partnership activities.
- The Lynchburg Fire Department – Fire Station # 4 B Shift and the Middle School Learning Center will promote the partnership in the community and publicize partnership activities through school displays/bulletin boards, press releases, partner visits and other appropriate city government and school division publications.
Evaluation:
All parties will provide written evaluation of partnership activities by completing a partnership evaluation form at the end of the school year.
