2009 National Merit Scholarship Program

Heritage High School Senior, Benjamin Karaus, is a 2009 National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist. Karaus is now in the running for more than 8,200 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $35 million, that will be offered next spring. Karaus is now listed among the most academically talented students in the United States.

Ten students from E.C. Glass and one student from Heritage were named commended students in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. About 34,000 Commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2009 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2009 competition by taking the 2009 Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
