Congratulations to Anne Chamberlin, LCS Teacher of the Year!
School Administrators are proud to announce Anne Chamberlin as Lynchburg City School’s Teacher of the Year. Members of the school administration surprised Ms. Chamberlin with the news Thursday, April 30, 2009 during a school assembly at Paul Munro Elementary.
Ms. Chamberlin has been teaching for Lynchburg City Schools for 21 years. She is a second grade teacher at Paul Munro and was nominated by her principal, Donna Baer. Ms. Baer says Ms. Chamberlin is an excellent candidate for Teacher of the Year not only because of her work inside the classroom but her ability to get children involved in community service work as well. Ms. Chamberlin started G.R.O.S.S. which stands for Go Recycle Our Students Stuff. This project made the school “greener” and gave the children hands- on lessons about our environment at the same time.
In her entry essay for Teacher of the Year, Ms. Chamberlin described her teaching philosophy as “respect between teacher and student, recognition of every child every day, and believing it all can happen.”
The Mabry Automotive Group will award Ms. Chamberlin for her hard work by loaning her a brand new car for a year. In addition, Ms. Chamberlin is now a candidate for regional teacher of the year.
