Partnership with Lynchburg Police Department and Robert S. Payne Elementary SchoolThis is a one-year Master Partnership between the Lynchburg Police Department Investigations Unit and the Kindergarten Unit Robert S. Payne Elementary School. The partnership will be renewed annually upon review and mutual consent of both parties.

Plan Description:

This master partnership between the Lynchburg Police Department Investigations Unit and the Kindergarten Unit Robert S. Payne Elementary School is designed to provide recognition and incentives for students and staff.  The partnership will also provide a means of financial support of programs.  The Robert S. Payne Elementary School community will support the Lynchburg Police Department Investigations Unit in a variety of ways thus establishing a positive relationship among students, parents and staff towards this business partner.

Major Objectives:

  • The Lynchburg Police Department will support early literacy among all kindergarten students.
  • The Lynchburg Police Department will provide the opportunity for educational field trips to the Police Department.
  • The Lynchburg Police Department will recognize and promote appropriate behavior, good attendance, and academic excellence
  • The Lynchburg Police Department will provide resources to the Kindergarten students at Robert S. Payne Elementary School in support of learning about community helpers.
  • The Lynchburg Police Department will showcase student projects and art work.
  • The Lynchburg Police Department will support the Family and Schools Together (FAST) by providing volunteers as needed.

Major Activities:

  • The Lynchburg Police Department will provide one volunteer (twice per week) to read to the kindergarten unit at Robert S. Payne Elementary.
  • Robert S. Payne Elementary School will provide written work (poems and stories) for display at the Police Department.
  • The Lynchburg Police Department will help promote good attendance, appropriate behavior, and exceptional citizenship.
  • The Lynchburg Police Department will bring the K-9 units, equipment, and dress to the school for demonstration purposes.
  • Lynchburg Police Department will offer field trips so that students can study specific SOL content areas.
  • Representative(s) from Lynchburg Police Department and Robert S. Payne Elementary School will serve on the Partnership Planning Committee to plan, monitor, and evaluate all partnership activities.
  • Robert S. Payne Elementary School will promote the partnership with the Lynchburg Police Department in the community and publicize partnership activities through newsletters, press releases, partner visits and other appropriate company, school and school division publications.
  • The Lynchburg Police department will support the Family and Schools Together (FAST) by providing volunteers as needed.

Evaluation:

All parties will provide written evaluation of partnership activities by completing a partnership evaluation form at the end of the school year.
