Dearington, T. C. Miller, Perrymont, W. M. Bass, Linkhorne, and Payne Elementary schools will participate in the International Walk to School Day, Wednesday October 5, 2011. Walk to School Day events are hosted across the country to create safer routes for children to walk and bike to local schools and to emphasize the importance of physical activity and health for our children.

On the morning of October 5th all of the students, including bus and car riders, will meet and leave a central location close to school to walk as group with parents, teachers and volunteers.

This event is being organized as part of the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) initiative through a partnership with Prevention Connections, Virginia’s Region 2000 Local Government Council, the City of Lynchburg, and Lynchburg City Schools.
