If you have a family member ages 12- 22 with a disability, you are invited to participate in the 7th Annual Transition Conference & Expo on November 5th, 2011 at Central Virginia Community College, Merritt Hall, Center for Workforce Development and Continuing Education in Lynchburg.

This is a free event for students and their families from Amherst, Bedford, and Campbell Counties, as well as Lynchburg City. The registration, vendors and exhibits open at 8:30 a.m. and the conference starts at 9:00 a.m. with Virginia Department of Education’s Project Coordinator & keynote speaker Kim Sheridan sharing her “I’m Determined” presentation. In addition, we will have a panel discussion with several young adults who have transitioned successfully into adult life. 

The speaker and the youth panel will offer valuable insight and information related to preparing your child with a disability for life as an adult.

Exhibitors representing local and regional resources for individuals with disabilities and their families from Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, Cabaniss Day Support , Commonwealth Autism Services, Lynchburg Area Center for Independent Living, Rehabilitative Services and Vocational Placement, The Arc of Central Virginia, the Lamano Agency, Elite Athletics, and Creative Family Solutions will be available to answer any questions and share information about the various services they provide.
