Lynchburg City Schools’ Career-Technical Education (CTE) teachers continue to create vitality in our local workforce by placing highly qualified graduates in the workplace directly from high school. In late November, program coordinators held an open house for local business executives and legislators. These local leaders continue to welcome the opportunity to hire LCS students including:

  • Del. Scott Garrett (R-Lynchburg)
  • Clarkie Eppes, from the office of Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA)
  • Mr. John Capps, President of Central Virginia Community College
  • Lynchburg City School Board members: Rev. Keith Anderson, Mr. Albert Billingsly, Mrs. Treney Tweedy, and Ms. Marie Waller
  • Mr. Bryan David, Executive Director of Region 2000 Economic Development Council
  • Mrs. Marjette Upshur, Director of Lynchburg Department of Economic Development
  • Dr. Larry Massie, Lynchburg City Schools Interim Superintendant
  • Representatives from Region 2000 Technology Council, Central Virginia Community College, Belvac, Lynchburg Hillcats, Generation Solutions, Banker Steel, Southern Air, AREVA, Craddock Cunningham Architectural Partners, Laslie’s Auto Body, and other Region 2000 businesses

By participating in the open house, these guests discovered all of the exciting opportunities available to our students, which help prepare them to become members of the workforce and valuable community members.  LCS CTE programs are developed with the input from local companies to help fulfill their future workforce needs, ensuring the school division’s place as a vital part of Region 2000.
