The students at T. C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation and local artist Mike Twery have created a tile mural of the animal kingdoms.

The school partnered with ARTZONE, a local nonprofit committed to bringing artists and children together. Katie Roseveare, a T. C. Miller movement instructor and president of ARTZONE, and Renee Anderson, a science resource teacher, coordinated the project. Every student was able to create a portion of the mural, and Mr. Twery spent hours at the school placing the tiles, grouting and perfecting the project. The children were able to witness the mural come to life a little each day.

The school is planning another project this spring with Mr. Twery that will involve T. C. Miller students working with him to create sculptures that will be placed throughout Lynchburg for all to enjoy.

T. C. Miller is a school for innovation that emphasizes the arts. This was yet another opportunity for students to connect their classroom experience with real world applications.
