Lynchburg City Schools has many talented student artists, whose works will be exhibited and displayed throughout Downtown Lynchburg this Saturday, March 31st.

It’s the 2012 Youth Gallery Crawl that encourages LCS students and families to “crawl” out of bed to participate in Lynchburg’s Downtown art expo experiencing and exploring the stores/businesses, restaurants and LCS youth art on display. Listed below is the schedule of activities:

  • From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., artwork will be on display in the windows of downtown businesses and in the lobby of the Arts and Education building at Commerce and Fifth Streets.
  • From 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., an Art Gallery Reception will be held to honor LCS student artists, their families, and art teachers at the Academy of Fine Arts Theater Lobby.
  • From 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Minds Wide Open Kid Pan Alley Musical Performance will feature music and songs with Paddy Dougherty created by William M. Bass and R. S. Payne Elementary students.

The Academy of Fine Arts began displaying LCS students’ artwork on March 12th and the artwork will remain on display through March 31st. This event is sponsored, in part, by the Academy of Fine Arts and Minds Wide Open, a statewide collaboration of artists, arts organizations, museums and libraries to celebrate children and the arts.  All events are free and open to the public.
