Youth Art Gallery Crawl

Minds Wide Open musical performance

The Youth Art Gallery Exhibit and Downtown Youth Art Crawl was a huge success in March. Large crowds attended and walked Main Street to view LCS students’ artwork distributed in area downtown businesses and in the Academy of Fine Arts (AFA) Education building. Linkhorne Middle School student Isaac Williams provided live music accompaniment on the grand piano in the lobby. Student artists received a complimentary art exhibit catalogue of their artwork, with printing costs donated by a local supporter of youth art.

The Minds Wide Open musical performance at the AFA theatre was also a hit. R. S. Payne and William Marvin Bass Elementary student song writers performed songs written with the guidance and talents of local musician and song writer Paddy Dougherty and Nashville musician Kathy Hussey. The inspiration for the songs and lyrics came from the LCS student artwork .

Lynchburg City Schools embodies great traditions in the fine arts and continues to showcase emerging talent in all disciplines: choral, instrumental, visual, and theatrical.
