T. C. Miller sculptureLynchburg City Schools will be making a big showing during this week’s First Friday’s event in downtown Lynchburg. Artwork and musical performances from Heritage High School, E. C. Glass High School, and T. C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation will be showcased among the many festivities during this special gallery tour that happens on the first Friday of every month in Lynchburg.

  • If you didn’t catch it last month, Heritage High School is having a "second chance" art show at LightWings Gallery on Belmont Street from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with the children’s book An Acorn Adventure, on display.
  • Also, the E. C. Glass High School orchestra will be performing from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Riverviews Art Space. This is the same group that will be going on tour in England later in June.
  • And the Soaring Eagles Academy will be representing T. C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation. On display will be colorful wooden sculptures created by third-, fourth- and fifth-graders as a collaborative effort with local artist Michael Twery and the school’s 21st Century Community Learning Center before- and after-school program. You can view these sculptures from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. during a reception for the young artists at the performance space at the Academy of Fine Arts off of Commerce Street.  After the showing, the artworks will be placed at various public locations around town to be enjoyed by the community at large.
