Ted NeeleyTed Neeley, star of the classic Jesus Christ Superstar is kicking off his national tour in Lynchburg with a special benefit performance at Dunbar Middle School in March.

Neeley and his Little Big Band will perform on March 15, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Carl Anderson Performing Arts Auditorium at Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School for Innovation. The performance will pay tribute to his friend and co-star of the 1973 film, Carl Anderson. During the week of March 11th, Neeley will be in Lynchburg rehearsing the show, making personal appearances and conducting workshops with Dunbar students.

Tickets for the March 15th performance are available at lynchburgtickets.com or at the door if any seats remain. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the award-winning Dunbar Theatre program.

The touring show will debut new music and feature stories and musical material from Neeley’s career as a rock opera pioneer, including selections from Tommy, Hair, Sgt. Pepper's, and of course, Jesus Christ Superstar. Neeley will also open the vault of images and unseen footage from his personal archives, including interviews with directors Norman Jewison and Tom O'Horgan, Tommy Smothers and many others.

The tour visits 17 cities in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic in March and April, and will move to other regions of the U.S. in the summer and fall of 2013. For more information, visit www.neeleytour.com.
