Germany and FranceLynchburg City Schools is pleased to recognize the achievements of the many talented foreign language students throughout the school division.

E. C. Glass German III student Shelby Heller has been accepted to attend the Virginia Governor's German Academy this summer. She will spend three weeks in full German immersion at the campus of Washington and Lee University in Lexington. The acceptance into this program is very competitive.

The following Lynchburg City Schools students earned awards in Le Grand Concours 2013, a French essay contest for French students in Lynchburg and surrounding counties. The contest was sponsored by the Alliance Française de Lynchburg. 

Level I: 1st - Melissa Poletti (LMS); 2nd - Christina Bennett (LMS)

Level 2: 3rd - Julia  Sackett (ECG)

Level 3: 1st - Alex Singy (ECG)

Level 5: 1st - Julie Skorcz (ECG); 2nd - Sabrina Gerlich (ECG); 3rd - Madelaine McDonald (ECG)

Winners of the annual German essay contest "Aufsatzwettbewerb" will be presented on Monday, April 29th in the Marie Waller Lecture Hall at E. C. Glass High School. All German students from Heritage High School, E. C. Glass, and Dunbar Middle School for Innovation participated. Awards will be posted once they are announced.
