Lynchburg City Schools has a rich pool of talent to continue the tradition of excellence in the theatre scene. Follow the drama this year as LCS middle and high school students perform on stage in comedies, classics and show-stopping musicals.

E. C. Glass Theatre

  • FIRST SHOW: Little Women - The Musical
    Based on the Louisa May Alcott novel and her own family, this wonderful story is brought to life as an exhilarating new musical filled with glorious music, dancing and heart. Glass Theatre’s VISITING ARTIST SERIES welcomes Logan Troyer (ECG ’09, JMU ’13) as guest director.

  • SECOND SHOW: It's All Greek to Me!
    Revisit stories that have stood the test of time with two one-act plays inspired by classical mythology and literature – but with a contemporary twist!

  • THIRD SHOW: Pippin
    In revival on Broadway, this hip, tongue-in-cheek fairy tale continues to captivate audiences! The story of Pippin, a young prince, on his road to discover life’s secret of true happiness is filled with show-stopping music and dance. A delight to the eyes, ears, and soul as you travel with Pippin through one moment after another of theatre magic!

  • FOURTH SHOW: 45 Seconds From Broadway
    Neil Simon, America’s master of Broadway comedy, gives us an evening of laughs in the “Polish Tea Room” where Broadway theatre personalities, washed-up and on-the-rise, gather to schmooze even as they lose. Touching and funny and a play you don’t want to miss!

Heritage High School Pioneer Theatre

  • FIRST SHOW: Chicago, the Musical 
    In this universal tale of fame, fortune and jazz, Pioneer Theatre students will amaze  the audience with show-stopping song and dance.

    October 10, 12, 13, 19-21: All shows 7:00 p.m. except Sunday, October 13th at 2 p.m.

  • THIRD SHOW: Shrek, the Musical
    Based on the 2001 DreamWorks film Shrek and William Steig's 1990 book Shrek!

    February 28 & March 1, 2, 6-8: All shows at 7:00 p.m. except Sunday March 2nd at 2:00 p.m.

  • FOURTH SHOW: The Firebugs
    This dark comedy is set in a town that is being regularly attacked by arsonists. Disguised door-to-door salesmen (hawkers) talk their way into people's homes and settle down in the attic, where they set about the destruction of the house.

    April 3-6: All Shows 7:00 p.m. except Sunday April 6th at 2:00 p.m.

Dunbar Theatre

  • FIRST SHOW: Once on This Island, Jr.
    A one-act musical with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. The story concerns a peasant girl on a tropical island, who uses the power of love to bring together people of different social classes.

    November 1-3

  • SECOND SHOW: Our Town
    An American Classic, this 1938 three-act play by American playwright Thornton Wilder is set in the fictional American small town of Grover's Corners. It tells the story of an average town's citizens in the early twentieth century as depicted through their everyday lives.

    February 7-9

  • THIRD SHOW: Oliver
    Based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens

    April 4-6
