Teachers and parents alike at both high schools commented on the positive outcomes that came from having that chance to "touch base" on their students’ progress so far this school year.

Touching Bases took place at the high schools in September. It was an open house opportunity where parents could speak briefly with their child’s teachers about their start to this school year. Guidance counselors were also available. Parents received general feedback about their child. Also, they were able to schedule individual conferences for a later date if necessary.

Below is some of the feedback received from teachers and parents:

“I thought the inaugural Touching Bases event was excellent. I hope we do it again.”

“I just got a phone call from a parent who could not say enough positive things about this morning. She and her family are new to the area and were very pleased with the Touching Bases this morning. She said she feels truly blessed to be a part of our school and all of the staff that work here. Hopefully this will be the first of many.”

“Touching Bases went REALLY well. Lots of good comments from parents and teachers. We saw a lot of parents that we probably would not have seen otherwise.  Parents really liked not having to walk all over the school.”

“Parents and teachers loved Touching Bases. The parents appreciated the time that it was scheduled.  Several said that they work swing shift and can't come in the evenings. They also liked not having to walk all over the place.”

“Teachers felt that they saw a good mix of parents.”

“I admit I was skeptical about 'Touching Bases.' But I thought it was wonderful! I loved the opportunity to talk to my children's teachers. I loved having several minutes of the teacher's uninterrupted attention. The only drawback is that I didn't allow myself enough time to check in with all of (my children’s) teachers. Thank you for this unique concept; I'd love to have ‘Touching Bases’ again next semester.”

“Thank you for holding ‘Touching Bases’ this morning. I was certainly willing to participate but didn't know what to expect. It exceeded my expectations. I thought the format was fabulous and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet or follow-up with my daughters’ teachers. Thank you for providing it, and I hope you do it again in the future.”
