Go Center students video chat with Astronaut William ReaddyLCS fourth graders might be a little too young to travel in space, so one fourth grade teacher brought a space traveler to them.

Via Skype, retired former astronaut William F. Readdy talked with Tracy Proffitt’s fourth-grade Gifted Opportunity class in September. Students were well-prepared with a long list of questions for this former space traveler. They asked things ranging from what it’s like to sleep in space with no gravity to how you get used to returning to life on earth.

Ms. Proffitt says her class really enjoyed their time with Mr. Readdy. He was great at answering questions on their level, and upon the conclusion of the interview, Ms. Proffitt wondered if she just might have some future astronauts in her midst.

Readdy, who grew up in McLean, Va., has logged more than 672 hours in space on three shuttle missions. He graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy. He retired from NASA in 2005 to establish Discovery Partners International.
