HHS JROTC at GroundbreakingHeritage High School Marine Corp JROTC Drill Team ended a successful year with five trophies, including two first-place finishes, at the Physical Fitness Meet at Hermitage High School in April.

HHS won first place in the Bowling Pin Toss and ¼-mile Gear Carry events, second place in the Hummer Pull and Basketball Free Throw events, and third place in the 100-meter Hurdle Dash. The HHS cadets finished second overall in the event.

This rounded out a very accomplished year for the HHS Marine Core JROTC cadets. This year’s accomplishments included:

  • The Presentation of Colors at the Heritage High School Groundbreaking event in April;
  • A second-place overall finish in the State Drill Meet in Norfolk, as well as second in Armed Platoon and Inspection, and third in the Platoon Exhibition; and
  • A first-place finish in the Western Region Meet at Halifax, placing first in Color Guard, Inspection, and Platoon Armed. This honor earned them a spot in the state competition.
