State Culinary Competition WinnerLynchburg City Schools Culinary Arts students attended the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership and Recognition Conference in Virginia Beach in April. Students attended conference sessions and workshops, a formal banquet and gala, and participated in competitions, where they took home numerous awards and scholarships. 

LCS Winners Included:

CULINARY EXHIBIT AND PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO

Alexis Ward - 1st place Decorated Cake
$2,500 scholarship to Culinary Institute of Virginia and $6000 to Sullivan University.

Kaniesha Thompson - 1st place Patisserie
$2,500 scholarship to Culinary Institute of Virginia and $6000 to Sullivan University.

Alex Spakes - 2nd place Showpieces
$2,000 scholarship to Culinary Institute of Virginia and $4000 to Sullivan University.

Amanda Bersch - 4th place Showpieces/Silver medal

 

FCCLA State Competition WinnersFOOD INNOVATIONS 

Camrin Jefferson and Corwin Wright - 1st place - $4,000 scholarship to Johnson and Wales University and $6,000 to Sullivan University. These two will also be advancing to the National FCCLA competition in July.

Jamal Charlemagne - 4th place/Silver medal

Ai'sha Jones - 7th place/Silver medal

 

LIVE CULINARY TEAM EVENT

Corean Carrington, Amari Demar, Javontay Wells - Bronze medal

Justin Horsley, Korey Woodson, Mark Wriston - Bronze medal 

 

Star Attendant and Conference Session Host - Lale Fleshman

All scholarships are yearly renewable scholarships.
