Spartans Give Back!

The Sandusky Spartans would like to participate in the recovery efforts for those effected by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston, Texas area. We seek to do a drive to collect some of the items most needed for these survivors. While researching the needs of the people in Texas and discussing this process with Gleaning for the World, we discovered that the needs of the people in Houston are tremendous! With that said, we are asking parents, staff and students to dig deep and be part of the Spartan recovery process for the Houston survivors! It will take many years for the Houston residents to fully recover because the devastation was so great, so every little bit helps in their relief effort! Students, as mentioned above, Houston needs your help as well! Please give what you can. To help with this, we have collaborated with our P.E. teachers to offer an incentive for giving! Students who donate two or more items will be able to participate in a No Dress Out, No Run Day on Oct 4th! So, be ready to give back to a community in need.

Below are some of the items on the most needed list that we would like to collect:

  1. Comfort kits – (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and toothbrush)
  2. Baby formula, baby food
  3. Non-perishable food and snack items (no canned items, UNLESS pop-top items that are easy to open without a can opener)
  4. Diapers and wipes
  5. Things for children – (toys, puzzles, coloring books and crayons)

In addition, we would like to put together the Comfort kits by using gallon sized storage bags. We would appreciate any donation of these bags. All items can be dropped off in the main office or with your PE teacher. We are working with Gleaning for the World to get the collected items to the people of Houston. They will pick up these items on Wednesday, September 27th. So, LET’S GO SPARTANS in giving to those who need our help!
