The application process for the 2024-25 school year is not yet open.

Our goal here at the LCS Virtual Academy is to ENGAGE, EDUCATE and EMPOWER all of our students to reach their highest potential. We are a K-12 program that is tuition free, completely virtual and serves students with all kinds of learning needs. Students at the Virtual Academy still have access to all of the extracurricular activities LCS has to offer, all while allowing students to learn in a distraction free environment.

About the School

At the LCS Virtual Academy, high-quality, licensed teachers work with students to best meet their needs. Teachers monitor student progress throughout the year and make adjustments, as needed, to ensure academic success. Here is what the learning environment looks like:

  • Live Instruction: Teachers conduct live instruction daily that is aligned to the SOL standards. Students are required to attend all live instruction via video conference.
  • Small Group Support: Teachers support personalized learning for each student. This helps with any learning gaps or unique learning needs.
  • Asynchronous Work: Teachers develop modules of learning for students to complete on their own; some of this work is practice from what the students learned during synchronous instruction, and some is new material that students will need to work on before the next class session.
  • Personalized Feedback: Teachers provide feedback on student work, through written comments, annotations, and audio feedback. Students correct mistakes and resubmit work, when appropriate.

Although we are a virtual school, we understand the importance of community-building. Monthly in-person events allow for teachers and students to develop deeper relationships and engage in standards-aligned activities. We also have student interest clubs that provide an opportunity for students to connect with teachers and peers in a non-academic setting. Throughout the year, we even host recognition ceremonies to highlight students not only for academic achievements but also outstanding effort. We do all of these things in order to engage, educate, and empower students at the LCS Virtual Academy.
