Science

The Lynchburg City Schools K-5 science program stresses the importance of a variety of hands-on investigations to study the life, physical, and earth sciences as outlined in the Virginia Standards of Learning. Students use science skills such as observing, asking questions, measuring, classifying, predicting, data collection, and drawing conclusions to explore the world around them. More specific information about the science curriculum may be found in the SCIENCE CURRICULUM TIMELINES. Science kits for each grade level are delivered to schools each six weeks. These kits include materials and activities, which address specific Standards of Learning. Questions about the K-5 science curriculum may be addressed to
April Bruce, Supervisor for Math & Science (bruceam@lcsedu.net, 522-3715, ext 136) or Anne Berry, Instructional Science Specialist (berryag@lcsedu.net, 522-3715).
