Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program

The Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program provides all children in the approved school with a fresh fruit or vegetable snack in their classroom at a designated time during the school day at no cost. It is an effective and creative way of introducing fresh fruits and vegetables as healthy snack options. This program is also seen as an important catalyst for change in efforts to combat childhood obesity by helping children learn more healthful eating habits.

The goal of the FFVP is to:

  • Create healthier school environments by providing healthier food choices.
  • Expand the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience.
  • Increase children’s fruit and vegetable consumption.
  • Make a difference in children’s diets to impact their present and future health.

Eight LCS schools have been selected to participate in the Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program. See links below for the menus at Bass, Dearington, Heritage, Linkhorne, Perrymont, R. S. Payne, Sheffield, and T. C. Miller elementary schools.
