What is the Middle School Learning Center?
The Middle School Learning Center is an alternative education environment, which offers programs for students in grades 6 and 7.
How are students placed at the Middle School Learning Center?
- A child may be referred to this alternative site by the home school principal. The referral will go through the screening committee.
- The School Board may place a child in the program due to a long-term suspension, so that the child may continue to receive an education.
- A student may be placed in the alternative site if he/she has committed one of the eight reportable offenses.
- Placement by the school division superintendent will be determined on an individual basis.
What is the curriculum at the Middle School Learning Center?
The Middle School Learning Center offers comprehensive core subjects based on the VA Standards of Learning.
Collaboration with Alliance for Families and Children has been established to provide regularly scheduled parental support groups and Smart Moves sessions to address healthy and risky behaviors.
Hours of Operation
Staff: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Students: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Transportation is provided. Lunch is provided. Uniforms/ID’s are provided.
