2008 Registration Information

Dates

New and Transfer Students:
  • Wednesday, August 13 - 9:00 to 2:00 PM
  • Thursday, August 14 - 2:30 to 7:30 PM
All Elementary, Middle and High Schools (including Pre-K)
  • Tuesday, August 19th 12:30 to 7:00 PM
PreKindergarten and Kindergarten Orientation
  • Thursday, August 21st 8:50 AM

Proof of Residency for Registration

The following schools will need proof of residency at registration for all students - those new to the school for 2008-09 and students returning from 2007-08 to the same school for 2008-09:

  • Dearington Elementary School for Innovation
  • Thomas C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation
  • Robert S. Payne Elementary School
  • Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School for Innovation
  • Perrymont Elementary School

All other schools will need proof of residency for new students only - those new to the school including those who attended a different LCS school 2007-08 and those who are completely new to Lynchburg City Schools.

Two of the following will be accepted as proof of residency:

  • Current utility bills
  • Current rent receipts with address on receipt
  • Closing papers of home purchased
  • City registration of vehicle (city requires that vehicles be registered within 30 days of moving to Lynchburg.)

If they are living with someone else in the city and do not have any of the above items, a notarized letter from the person with whom they are living, stating:

  • that the parent/guardian and child(ren) are residing with them at this address and
  • that the parent/guardian and child(ren) are residing with them at this address and
  • the date they moved to this address

Homeless/Temporary Shelter

If a family is homeless and living in temporary shelter within the city, the children will be accepted into school upon receipt of documentation from the shelter administrator.

Current LCS Student

If you or your child is currently registered as a Lynchburg City Schools' student, you will be asked to proofread your child(ren)'s current emergency medical form and make corrections and changes as necessary. Class schedules and assignments will be given on registration day, as well as information on school lunch, transportation, and other important information for the 2008-2009 school year.
