In Exploratory French, students learn basic French vocabulary through repetition, songs, projects, games, videos, and writing.  Students gain a basic knowledge of French culture, history, literature, food, and art.

During the course of French I, students learn functional grammar and vocabulary skills. They practice new vocabulary and grammar through the creation of dramatic skits.  Students learn about the lives, hobbies, classes, and interests of French speaking students of a similar age.  This is accomplished through not only traditional methods of reading and writing, but also through the use of authentic language videos, computer based realia (things such as authentic restaurant menus, internet travel sites the textbook has approved, store websites the text has recommended) music sites the text suggests, museum websites, amusement park websites etc. and computer games.
