ECG Seniors Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program

About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

In early September, about 16,000 students, or approximately one-third of the 50,000 high scorers, are notified that they have qualified as Semifinalists. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. We are pleased to announce that Jackson Riffee is a Semifinalist. Approximately 34,000 students from across the country received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. We congratulate seven seniors from E. C. Glass High School who were recognized with this distinction, Catherine Hartsell, McKenna Pettyjohn, Brian Mandeville, Matthew Maccallum, Thomas Colvin, Youbin Roh and Carson Wood.

We congratulate Jackson Riffee, Catherine Hartsell, McKenna Pettyjohn, Brian Mandeville, Matthew Maccallum, Thomas Colvin, Youbin Roh and Carson Wood on their distinguished academic performances. We are so very proud of these Hilltoppers--academic excellence!
