Directions to Away Contests

Below is a listing of directions to the scheduled HHS away contests. 

  1. Appomattox County High - #460 East to Appomattox. Take the 3rd Appomattox exit. At the end of the ramp, you will need to yield and merge into the road, going to the right. Follow the green directional school signs. Take your first turn to the left. Then take the 2nd road to your right; this will be Evergreen Avenue. Follow Evergreen and the school will be on this road on your right. Approximate travel time is 35 minutes.
  2. Northside High – Take #460 all the way into Roanoke. At the Roanoke Civic Center (just beyond Williamson Road), take the ramp to #581 North (or West) toward #81 and the airport; this is the first ramp. Follow this ramp until you reach the exit for Peters’ Creek Road; take the second Peters’ Creek Road exit, loop back up and cross over #581. Go roughly ¼ mile until a church and a large open field are on your right. Turn right here; this is Northside High School Road. The school is at the end of this road. Roughly 1 ¼ hours travel time.
  3. Magna Vista High – Take #460 West to Bedford. Take #122 South to Rocky Mount. This will cross over SML at Hale’s Ford Bridge. Coming into Rocky Mount, turn right at the stoplight where #122 merges into #40. Go down the hill, straight through the stoplight where the Sheetz’s is on your right. Go under the bridge (which is #220), and get in the left lane. Turn left onto the ramp for #220 toward Martinsville. After roughly ½ hour, look for Rt. #641 on the right. Exit at the ramp which indicated Rt. #641. Go to the end of the ramp where there is a stopsign. Turn left onto Rt. #641. At the next intersection, turn left onto Rt. #687 (Soapstone Road). At the next right, turn right onto Rt. #1060. The school sign is on the road on the right. The name of the road is Magna Vista Road. Follow this road; the school is on the left. Travel time; a minimum of 2 hours.
  4. William Fleming High – WM plays its junior varsity football games at River’s Edge Sports Complex which is in the heart of Roanoke, next to the old Victory Stadium and Roanoke Carillion Hospital. Take #460 to Roanoke. Take #581 South at the Roanoke Civic Center; this will take you toward Martinsville, Tanglewood Mall, etc. Take the Colonial Avenue/Wonju exit. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right. After a short block, turn right again at the stoplight onto Brandon Road. Go down the hill to the 1st stoplight and turn left onto Williamson Road. Turn right when you see the tennis courts on your right(This is the River’s Edge Sport Complex). Make sure to turn right before you cross over the river and the bridge. The game will be on one of the multiple fields in this complex. Travel time – 1 ¼ hours
  5. Halifax County Sr. High - Take #460 East (toward Appomattox). Take #501 to Rustburg (Campbell Avenue extended). IN Rustburg, turn right at the stoplight and follow #501 to Brookneal. In Brookneal, follow the #501 signs – turn right and cross the railroad tracks. Go through the small town of Halifax and continue on 501. At the stoplight intersection of 501 and 129, turn left. This is a major intersection where there is a Golden Corral Restaurant on your right corner. Go to the second stoplight. You will see the school marquee and school entrance on your right. Turn right. You will see the school and major parking lot directly in front of you. The football field is to your right from the parking lot. Travel time – 1 ½ hours
  6. R. E. Lee High – Take #81 North. Take exit #225. At the end of the exit, turn left onto Rt. 3262 (Woodrow Wilson Parkway). Go through the stoplight and through two flashing caution lights. Take the next exit toward Staunton – Route #250 East (Churchville Ave.) At the second stoplight, stay in the right hand lane, next to the stone wall. Follow around the outsidie of the park – this will put you on Thornrose Ave. Turn right at the stone gates across from Grace Christian School (this is the second entrance to the park). Follow the park road by the Armory and into a large parking lot. You will see the field.
Away Golf Locations

 

  1. Jefferson Forest plays at Ivy Hills in Forest.
  2. Rustburg plays at Hat Creek.
  3. Amherst plays at Winton.
  4. Liberty plays at Bedford Country Club.
  5. Brookville plays at Poplar Forest.
Away Cross Country Locations
  1. Jefferson Forest runs at Wolf Branch Farm, located next to Benjamin’s Restaurant – across from the Forest Post Office.
  2. Brookville runs at the Campbell County park located on the left on Leesville Road, beyond the intersection of Waterlick and Leesville.
  3. Liberty – Take #460 West to Bedford. At the Walmart, take the ramp to your right. At the end of the ramp, turn left and go under the #460 bridge and follow this road for 1 mile. Then you will see the Sherriff’s Office on your right and a sign for a nursing home on your left. Turn left here. Go 3’10’s of a mile and you will see the park. Travel time – 30 minutes.
  4. ECG – at Presbyterian Home – Take the Expressway toward the Boonsboro side of town. Continue on Old Forest Road until reaching the CVS store on the corner of Old Forest and Link. Turn left here. At the end of Link, bear right onto Boonsboro/Rivermont. Then turn left at the next light onto VES Road. Follow VES Road until the bottom of the hill, where you will see a sign to your left for the Presbyterian Home. Turn left.
  5. Maymount Park in Richmond and Great Meadows in Warrenton - Directions will be available later.
