This course covers the history of the United States from 1877 to the present.
Civics is the study of the duties, rights, and responsibilities of citizenship. Students review the origins of U.S. government, and the Constitution. They also learn about the three branches of government, political parties, voting and elections, and federal, state, and local governments. Later in the year they study economics as it applies to the United States and to themselves as consumers, along with a review of the 6th and 7th grade history SOLs prior to state testing.
