Paul Munro Elementary School will be offering an after-school boys running program during the spring of 2015. The program will be for any 4th or 5th grade boy and will meet twice a week for 8 weeks. The goal is to prepare the students to run in a 5K race at the end of the 8 weeks. This program will be similar to the “Girls on the Run” program that has been available to the girls at Paul Munro for several years. We intend to implement the Run Hard model (Runhard.org) that emphasizes healthy lifestyle, running skills, and positive character skills.
The program will begin during the week of March 2nd and conclude April 25th with a 5K race to support local charities. We plan on meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays (this being subject to change) from 3:45-5:00 p.m. Students will be responsible for transportation. The cost of this program for each student will be $30 and will include a wicking shirt, water bottle, race finisher medal, shoe laces, and entry into the race. This cost has been greatly reduced through generous donations from community members and businesses. Space is limited and will be reserved for the first 15 students who bring in the signed permission form and money.
If you wish for your child to participate, please return signed form and money by no later than February 20th. We are all very excited about this new opportunity and look forward to starting something fresh and challenging! If you have any questions related to this new program, please contact Mr. Benyo, Mr. Dechant, or Mr. Allocco.
