Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Assistant (COTA)

LOCATION:

Carl B. Hutcherson Early Learning Center

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To assist in the assessment, development and implementation of occupational therapy programs for students on assigned caseload.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) works under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist and reports directly to the principal of the Carl B. Hutcherson Early Learning Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. The candidate must have a national board for certification and occupational therapy certificate/license.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists in assessing students’ level of functioning and need for therapy.
  2. Assists in developing an Individual Education Program for each student and participant in IEP meetings with parents at the direction of the occupational therapist.
  3. Implements therapy programs to meet IEP goals.
  4. Teaches parents, teachers or aides and other appropriate personnel to implement fine motor programs as prescribed by the occupational therapist.
  5. Collects and records data on therapy programs.
  6. Monitors therapy programs using observations, data and/or pre-post testing.
  7. Manages student behavior during therapy.
  8. Works cooperatively and communicates appropriately with teaching and support staff.
  9. Develops and adheres to a daily schedule.
  10. Works with the occupational therapist to order appropriate materials and equipment; uses and maintains that equipment.
  11. Monitors and reports student performance and progress.
  12. Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as directed.
  13. Complete required reports, IEP’s and other forms promptly and in an acceptable manner.
  14. Performs other duties as requested by the supervisor and/or director.

SALARY TERMS:

The minimum starting salary for this position is $29,270. This is a 10-month position with full benefits.

Systems Application Specialist

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To perform information technology application support, administer related training programs, and complete associated work as required.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The systems application specialist reports to the coordinator of data processing and the director of information technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. The candidate must have formal education in technology-related area, including computer database applications.
  2. The candidate must have sufficient work-related experience in computer application support and systems to fulfill responsibilities.
  3. The candidate must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  4. The candidate must be proficient in the application of technology to solve business and education-related problems.
  5. The candidate must be competent in the use and application of network operating systems, workstation technology, and mid-range hardware and software.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Devises plans for the revision of information technology programs.
  2. Supports software used in administrative applications within the school system.
  3. Trains employees using administrative applications on the proper use of these software programs.
  4. Provides back-up for computer operations personnel as needed.
  5. Serves as back-up for the schools for innovation selection/invitation process.
  6. Creates reports and data files in response to state, federal, and local needs.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by the coordinator of data processing and the director of information technology.

SALARY TERMS:

The salary range for this position is $36,800 to $41,192. This is a 12-month position with full benefits.

School Bus Drivers

Lynchburg City Schools has immediate openings for School Bus Drivers.

Candidates are paid, tutored and trained to obtain their Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Starting pay during training is $7.80 per hour. Pay increases to $8.07 per hour once training has been successfully completed. In addition, hourly wage is increased if you have previous bus driving experience. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, and possess (or be willing to obtain) a VA Commercial Drivers License. Applicants must also have a medical exam, a drug screening, and must pass an extensive DMV and criminal background check. Custodians

Lynchburg City Schools has immediate openings for Custodians.

Candidates who are selected will start on the substitute custodian list with a pay rate of $6.47 per hour. If and when a substitute custodian is offered a full time position, starting salary is $7.35 per hour depending on experience. Custodians must perform general cleaning tasks at their assigned location. Day and evening positions are available. Candidates must pass a criminal background check prior to any employment. The full-time jobs include benefits.
