Dear LCS community,

We have some highlights to share with you from our Tuesday, July 26, 2022, Lynchburg City School Board Work Session.

Deputy Superintendent Amy Pugh reviewed the Instruction and Program Policy.

Ethel Reeves, Director of Equity and Community Relations, presented the Spring 2022 Culture and Climate Survey. Charles Yarbrough, Educational Data Analyst, provided information about the new survey tool that was used. The purpose of the survey was to gather information about our school climate and culture. The survey participants included students, teachers, parents/guardians, and LCS employees. Elementary students reported an appreciation for their teachers and school nutrition staff. Students indicated that their parents/guardians care about their education and that teachers expect them to be successful. Other themes included the need to address bullying concerns and school safety and greater support for increased and more severe student behaviors. Results from the survey will be discussed among principals and directors and used to sustain actions that promote a positive climate and culture and improve in areas that need it.
