Dear LCS community,

We have some highlights to share with you from our School Board Meeting on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Reid Wodicka provided a summary of the next steps in the development of the LCS Facilities Master Plan. LCS will determine the programming needs in the facilities, and will utilize the facilities assessment report to determine what buildings can be used for future programming. LCS will seek input from the community and will share the Facilities Master Plan with the community after it has been completed.

The School Board may appoint advisory councils or committees of citizens of the school division for consultation with reference to specific matters pertaining to local schools. Under new business, names of committee members were submitted to the Board for approval for the Special Education Advisory Committee, Equity Task Force Advisory Committee, and Career-Technical Education Advisory Committee.

Ethel Reeves, Director of Equity and Community Relations, shared that this school year the Equity Task Force will continue to focus on ways to close the achievement gap and increase student mentoring and engagement.

Superintendent Dr. Crystal Edwards provided an update on school safety procedures.
