This is your Board Meeting Brief for the May 2nd School Board Meeting.

The School Board approved an update to the 2022-23 LCS calendar, so this school year will end a little earlier. The last day for students has been moved from Thursday, June 1st to Friday, May 26th. The last day for Bass students is now Monday, May 22nd. High school graduation dates will remain the same. Click here to see the updated calendars.

The School Board also approved the appointment of Dr. Chris Glover as the next principal of Fort Hill Community School. Dr. Glover returns to LCS after serving as the Director of Impact and Engagement at Lynchburg Beacon of Hope for the last four years.

Lynchburg City Schools staff were recognized at the Board Meeting, including retirees, school Teachers and Support Persons of the year, and the 2023 LCS Teacher of the Year, Mr. Albert Carter of Dunbar Middle School. Congratulations, Mr. Carter!

The Board also approved the updated Memorandum of Understanding with the Lynchburg Police Department regarding school resource officers. You can view the MOU on BoardDocs.

The next School Board work session will be Tuesday, May 16th at Heritage High School.
