Students in grade six who are functioning more than two instructional levels below grade expectancy in reading will receive a minimum of 3 hours each day in language arts instruction. At least 1-1/2 hours of the 3 hours will be in direct reading experiences.
Students in grades seven and eight who have a reading deficiency greater than two instructional levels will receive one period of reading instruction in addition to their regular language arts program.
Students who are functioning below but not more than two instructional levels behind their grade expectancy in reading may be scheduled for more reading instruction than the regular program provides.
