A minimum of one hour and 15 minutes daily is spent on mathematics. Teacher assistants and other resource personnel work with classroom teachers in grades 3-5 to provide smaller groups in math. Teachers use the LCS created Math Toolboxes to differentiate Guided Math Groups.
This important subject is integrated into many other areas of the curriculum such as art, movement, music, science, and technology. We also use software such as ST Math and Xtra Math. T. C. Miller, along with other LCS division schools, forms a team to play The 24 Game, a math game requiring contestants to use mental math to process four numbers and arrive at a final answer of 24. Winners meet in a district-wide competition in the spring.
