Pre-Kindergarten Program
Who May Apply - Lynchburg City Schools Pre-Kindergarten
- Lynchburg City Schools is accepting applications for children that will be four (4) years old on or before September 30, 2008.
- Parents of children who are residents of Lynchburg City.
Who May Apply - Lyn-CAG Head Start
- The Head Start program is accepting applications for children who will be turning ages 3 or 4 during the 2008-2009 program year.
- Parents of children who are residents of Lynchburg City.
- Acceptance is based on income eligibility.
How to Apply
- Complete the Pre Kindergarten Application and return it to any Lynchburg City Elementary School, the Parent Resource Center, or the Head Start Center. or mail to the address at the bottom of the form by March 31, 2008.
- Mail to Mrs. Barbara Parks, Lynchburg City Schools by no later than March 31st, 2008
- Applications are available online and at Head Start Centers, Lynchburg Health Department, any Lynchburg City Elementary School, Johnson Health Clinic, The Parent Resource Center, Lynchburg Community Action Group, Inc., nursery schools, and Carl B. Hutcherson Early Learning Center.
Selection Process - Lynchburg City Schools Pre-Kindergarten
- Only children who will be four (4) on or before September 30, 2008 will be screened.
- Screening will determine eligibility.
- Once the child has been accepted, the parent/guardian will be contacted by letter.
Selection Process - Lyn-CAG Head Start
- An enrollment application will need to be completed
- Proof of total family income and proof of birth will be needed before the application can be processed.
- Once the child has been selected, the parent/guardian will be contacted by letter.
Selection in the Programs
Once accepted to the Lynchburg City Schools Pre-Kindergarten program you will need to provide the following information at the beginning of the school year:
- the child’s state birth certificate
- a current physical examination
- the child’s immunization record
- the child’s social security number
- If your child is selected for the Head Start Program you will need to complete an application and provide the following information.
- proof of total family incomes
- proof of birth
