Annual Education Foundation Breakfast with the Superintendent

Student artwork decorated the tables while an audience of 300 business and community leaders participated in a creative vocabulary lesson at the Lynchburg City Schools Education Foundation’s Sixth Annual Breakfast with the Superintendent at Lynchburg College.

Virginia Teacher of the Year Meg Smith presented the program, “Inviting Everyone to Celebrate and Strengthen Virginia's Public Schools.”  She gave each member of the audience an assignment and called on volunteers to show their work.  Her program kept the audience engaged and showed how certain teaching methods can hook students into learning the material.

The breakfast is an annual fundraiser held by the Education Foundation. Dubbed “Breakfast with the Superintendent,” the event is meant to foster advocacy for the school division and raise funds for student scholarships, teacher grants and classroom supplies.

Table sponsors include: AREVA, Bank of the James, Candler Oil, Central Virginia Community College, Colonial Brokerage House, Drs. Tim Courville and Joy Hilliard, Dominion Seven Architects, The Education & Research Foundation Inc., Genworth Financial/Elena Edwards, Genworth Legal & Compliance Departments, J.E.
