Hutcherson Early Learning Program

HELP student and teacherHutcherson Early Learning Program is the Early Childhood Special Education component of Lynchburg City Schools. We serve students from ages two to kindergarten that demonstrate delays in the communication, personal/social, motor, cognitive and adaptive areas. The students are identified through an evaluation completed by the program. We receive screening requests from multiple sources that include: parents, preschools and child care facilities, doctors and teachers. Requests for screenings can be made by contacting our office at (434) 515-5180. Most of our students are served in inclusive placements or in the natural environment. A small percentage of our students require more support and are served in a self-contained classroom. If you have concerns about your child’s development and would like for your child to be screened, please have the following information available when you call:

  1. Child’s name
  2. Child’s date of birth
  3. Child’s race and gender
  4. Child’s address
  5. Parent’s name
  6. Area of concern
  7. Is your child Medicaid eligible?
