Several E. C. Glass High School students have qualified for All-State Orchestra based on their auditions in February at James Madison University. The following students will now perform in Charlottesville in April:

Sarah Catherine Straw – 3rd chair violin (100 auditioned)

Gregory Childress – 8th chair viola (45 auditioned)

Will Light – 8th chair cello (40 auditioned)

There are 44 violins, sixteen violas, fourteen cellos, and eight basses in the state orchestra. There are also woodwinds, brass, and percussion players.  Students performing in the All-State Orchestra come from the four regions that span across Virginia. 

The 2011 All-Orchestra event will take place April 7-9, 2011 at Charlottesville High School and Performing Arts Center. This three day event will be full of rehearsals culminating in a concert on the third day at 1:30 p.m.
