New 21st Century Community Learning Centers will be put in Linkhorne Elementary School and T. C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation this year thanks to a grant from the Virginia Department of Education. These two schools will receive a total of $395,000 to develop programs intended to decrease the achievement gap among students and increase scores on standardized tests that measure Adequate Yearly Progress, or AYP.

There are already centers in place at Bass Elementary, Heritage Elementary, R. S. Payne Elementary, Perrymont Elementary, Dunbar Middle School for Innovation, Sandusky Middle School, and Linkhorne Middle School. This year, those seven schools will receive a total of $778,791 to continue their programs.

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers are customized to fit the needs of the students and parents at each school.
