B. O. M. M.Heritage Top Scorer at Celtic Classic Band Competition

The Heritage High School Big Orange Marching Machine was named Grand Champion at the 2012 Celtic Classic Marching Band competition. Out of the 11 bands that competed at Glenvar High School in Salem in late September, Heritage was the only one to earn Superior ratings. The runner up was 7.5 points behind.

Heritage was also first in the class AA competition and swept first place honors in Marching, Music and General Effect.

The next opportunity to see the Heritage High School Big Orange Marching Machine is this Friday as HHS football hosts Martinsville at City Stadium. Then on Saturday, Oct. 6th, the band travels to Rocky Mount for the Franklin County Band Classic.

 

E. C. Glass Band 2nd at Dixie Classic

The E. C. Glass Marching Band finished second overall in the 2012 Dixie Classic Marching Band Competition at George Washington High School in Danville in late September.

More than a dozen high school bands competed from Virginia and North Carolina.

E. C. Glass also won in three categories in its division: Drum Major, Color Guard, and Percussion.   

E. C. Glass finished third overall at a second event, the Blue Ridge Festival of Bands at Brookville High School, with a first place finish in Percussion and second place finish in Drum major.

The next opportunity to see the E. C. Glass Marching Band perform is this Saturday at City Stadium as Glass football takes on Jefferson Forest.
