E. C. Glass senior Sarah Thomas has been selected as the 2013 AA Female Athlete of the Year for the state of Virginia by the Virginia High School League.
A committee of principals, media representatives and VHSL staff reviewed nearly 200 nominations and chose Sarah to receive one of 10 Allstate Foundation/VHSL Achievement Award scholarships. The three-sport athlete (volleyball, swimming, soccer) wins $1,500 and will attend the VHSL awards luncheon on May 13th in Charlottesville.
According to Glass Athletic Director Chip Berry, E. C. Glass has more VHSL award winners in the past 10 years than any other school in Virginia:
- Harrison Scharf - 2012 AA Male Athlete of the Year
- Georgie Sydnor - 2010 William Andrew Mullins Courageous Achievement Award
- Nathan Richards - 2007 AAA Male Athlete of the Year
- Kristin Kenny - 2006 AAA Female Athlete of the Year
