Mass Notification System
Lynchburg City Schools uses a mass notification system to send emails, phone calls, and text messages to parents and staff. These messages include important school updates and emergency notifications.
Parents, students, and staff can choose to receive text messages from schools and the division. To opt in, ensure that your cell phone number is listed in your contact information in Infinite Campus. If you haven’t already done so, you will then need to text “Y” to 67587. You can opt-out at any time by texting “N” to 67587.
If you are not receiving school or emergency notifications, or if you would like to update your contact preferences, contact the LCS HelpDesk at (434) 515-5090. The HelpDesk is available from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
ClassDojo
ClassDojo is a communication platform that helps teachers, schools, divisions, and families stay connected around what matters most: students’ learning, growth, and well-being. At Lynchburg City Schools, teachers and school leaders use ClassDojo to share classroom updates, celebrate student progress, and communicate directly with families, all in one place.
ClassDojo is completely free for every family, teacher, and student in Lynchburg City Schools. We chose ClassDojo because families and teachers already love it. ClassDojo does offer optional learning extras that families can choose for their child, but these add-ons are entirely optional and never required.
Families should receive an invitation to join ClassDojo from your child's teacher or school. Contact your student’s teacher or school if you haven’t received an invite. If you have any questions once your account is set up, you can email the ClassDojo support team at [email protected].
Weather Alerts
In the event of inclement weather, we will communicate with LCS families and staff by email, phone, and text through SchoolMessenger. Updates will also be shared on the LCS website, LCS social media pages, and through local media outlets.
