2024-25 Applications

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Feb. 29, 2024

We accept applications for William Marvin Bass Elementary School (BES) for students that reside within Lynchburg City but outside of the BES attendance zone. All students entering kindergarten and currently enrolled in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade are eligible to apply. Transportation for both zoned and invited students will be provided. Also, siblings of currently enrolled students will be given preference, if space is available. Students entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 30, 2024.

Year-Round Elementary School Application 2024-25

William Marvin Bass Year-Round School offers a calendar that is unique among the elementary schools in Lynchburg City Schools. During the school year, in addition to most of the breaks offered at the other LCS elementary schools, there are four week-long intersessions that offer services to a portion of the students in reading, writing, and math and various enrichment programs. The year round model also allows us to:

  • stress creativity and developmentally appropriate practices in all grades;
  • emphasize the use of instructional technology; and
  • expand hands-on math activities.

If you reside in the student attendance zone for Bass Elementary School, your child will automatically be assigned to the school and you do not need to complete this application.

If you do not live in the Bass attendance zone and you wish to apply, complete and submit the application by 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 29, 2024. If you need assistance with the application, call the school at (434) 515-5200.

Each application will be reviewed by a selection committee. Student academic, attendance, and discipline records will be a part of the review process along with the interest statement.

For an applicant who has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), we will review the IEP to determine whether we can implement the IEP at William Marvin Bass Year-Round School. Some special education services are so unique that they are available only through division-wide programs at specific schools.

Only those students who currently live outside the W. M. Bass Elementary School attendance zone need to apply.
