BHS T-SHIRTS/HUSKY SPIRIT DAY

The PTO sponsored BHS Shirts should be coming home TODAY in your student(s) backpack! Please have your student wear this shirt to school THIS FRIDAY, October 4, for Husky Spirit Day. We are hoping to take an aerial photo of the entire student body with everyone wearing their shirts. We can't wait to see everyone showing their Husky Pride!

PTO BOARD MEETING

Our next PTO Board Meeting will be held on Monday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the BHS library. The board meeting is open to all BHS families and free childcare is provided for school-aged children in the library. If you have any questions, feel free to send them to Shannon Buchanan, PTO President at [email protected].

HEARING SCREENINGS

Over the next two weeks, our school nurse will be performing state mandated hearing screenings on all Kindergarten and Third Grade students.  The screening will take less than 5 minutes per student and will be performed in the school's clinic.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Ravizza at 434-515-5210, option 2.

SHARING OUR LOVE OF READING

If you have any gently used children's books/chapter books that you would like to donate to our BHS Share Shelf, we would love to have them.   We have a bookcase in our cafeteria with free books that students can take home, read, return or keep so they have books in their home to read.   Please encourage your children to check out the Share Shelf and read every night!

VIOLIN

Beginner violin students should bring an empty egg carton to their second lesson. Nothing needed at the first lesson. It appears that BHS has a great group of new violin students joining the violin pack!

Students who have kept a practice calendar for September should bring it to their lesson this week. Parents, please sign the calendar and make certain it is an accurate reflection of your child's violin practice efforts.  Keep striving for 5 or more practices per week!

BHS SPIRIT WEAR

Husky Spirit Wear order forms have been sent home in backpacks. Please fill in your order form and return it to school. Last day for orders will be October 11.

BOX TOPS CONTEST

Thank you to everyone who is scanning receipts for Box Tops Rewards. We have earned almost $30.00 since August! Now it's time to send in those paper Box Tops you've been collecting. Please make sure the Box Tops haven't expired and label them with your teacher's name. We will collect paper Box Tops until October 10th. The class that collects the most will receive a treat. Hint--call your family members and neighbors to see if they have any they will contribute; the paper Box Tops are going out of circulation soon, so we want to submit them before they expire. Questions? Email Margo Shoemaker- [email protected]

GIVEN'S BOOKS/LITTLE DICKENS REWARDS

Did you know that Givens/Little Dickens has a rewards program for local schools?  Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc of children at Bedford Hills can apply the amount of their purchase to the Bedford Hills list/credit. At checkout, simply say something like, "Please apply this purchase to Bedford Hills.”  At the end of the calendar year, Givens will tally the total amount spent by Bedford Hills' supporters, and in February or March, they will send the school librarian a Givens gift certificate for 3% of that total. Be sure to shop local and support our school library at the same time!
