The students and staff will be participating in a lockdown drill this week. Cohort A will practice on Tuesday, November 10 and Cohort B will practice on Thursday, November 12. Our school’s crisis plan outlines specific procedures to follow in a variety of scenarios such as fire, weather concerns or other situations that may require a safety response. It is important, and required by the Code of Virginia, that we practice these various safety drills so students and staff are calm and confident in knowing how to respond appropriately. As part of our safety team, Officer Sacks will be participating in our drills whenever possible.

We will be making appropriate adjustments to our practice drills in order to follow all of the CDC guidelines related to COVID, such as maintaining 6 feet and wearing masks.

As always, please give me a call (434) 515-5210 or email me at [email protected] if you have any questions. Your partnership in your child’s education is greatly appreciated!

Message from Kris Lloyd, Garden Committee Chair

Looking for a fun family activity? Sign up to use the school courtyard garden (around the back of the school) this weekend, November 14 and 15. Each family is invited to sign up for one time slot that works for them. Only one family/slot so there is proper social distancing. While in the garden, you can choose a book to read about the garden; pick a few flowers (except the sunflowers); dig in the dirt box; pick an ear of corn or a bean pod; and/or complete the scavenger hunt. More information will be posted on the plastic bin in the gazebo when you arrive. Please feel free to bring your entire family. Enjoy and please close the gate when you enter and leave! If you have any questions, please contact the Garden Committee Chair, Kris Lloyd at [email protected] or 941-1519.
