ECG Student Plays Second Chair in State Band

E. C. Glass High School student Alton Quinn played in the 2026 All-Virginia Band, Chorus, and Orchestra event from April 16-18 in Richmond. He played second-chair trombone in the Symphonic Band, making him the fourth-highest trombone player in the state.

Students throughout the Commonwealth underwent a rigorous audition process to secure spots in these prestigious ensembles. Quinn learned from highly acclaimed conductors and played alongside the top high school musicians in Virginia during the event.

20 LCS Students Play in Junior Regional Orchestra

On Feb. 7, 2026, Lynchburg City Schools (LCS) strings students in grades seven through nine auditioned in Charlottesville for placement in the South Central West Junior Regional Orchestras (JROs). Twenty LCS students were selected to play in these prestigious orchestras, three of whom were chosen as the first chair for their instruments.

The JROs practiced and performed together on March 13 and 14 in Harrisonburg. Congratulations to the following students, who were accepted into either the A or B orchestra:
