The Virginia Department of Education requires that Lynchburg City Schools complete vision and hearing screenings annually for students in Kindergarten, 3rd, 7th, and 10th grades.

These screenings are for remote-only and hybrid students. If your child attends in-person, screenings will be completed on the day he or she attends in the building. If your child is a remote-only learner, we will make arrangements with you for your child to come to the school for the screening.

Parents/guardians may choose to opt their children out of these screenings. Please see the School Health Screening Information and Opt Out Form. If you choose to opt your child out of these screenings, please sign and return the form to your child's school by Tuesday, February 9, 2021. If you are unable to print the form, please contact your school nurse to make arrangements to receive a printed copy to sign.

If you do want your child to participate in the screenings, you do not need to sign the form. Families with remote-only students will be contacted by your school nurse.

If the screenings show that your child may need additional support, the school nurse will contact you.
