The safety of our students and staff is a top priority at Lynchburg City Schools (LCS). As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, LCS will implement walk-through metal detectors at our high schools later this school year.
To support this work, LCS established the Metal Detector Implementation Committee to help guide the implementation process.
Purpose
The Metal Detector Implementation Committee was created to:
- Provide feedback on the implementation of walk-through metal detectors
- Identify potential impacts on students, staff, and school operations
- Share perspectives, questions, and concerns from across the community
- Support a thoughtful and transparent implementation process
Committee feedback helps inform decision-making as LCS works to balance safety, student experience, and instructional time.
