Perrymont Elementary School announced the opening of their new school gym during a celebration ceremony on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

“We are grateful  to have this wonderful opportunity for our students, families, faculty, and staff,” says Perrymont Principal Ty Gafford. “Thank you to Dr. Edwards, our School Board members, and City Council members for their willingness to support this project! Words can not express how excited we are to see our new gym completed and now have the opportunity to put it to use.”

Mr. Gafford and PES movement education teacher Marisa Freeman spoke to the importance of this new gym and what it means to the students. The gym creates the opportunity for students and staff to exercise and have fun even on the days when it is cold, rainy, or too hot.
“We know how beneficial exercise and being physically active is to our young people, and we can’t wait to have our students utilize this great facility," says Mr. Gafford.

“Time and health are two really precious assets that we don’t recognize until they are depleted,” says Ms. Freeman. “Thank you, thank you, thank you for this amazing space to focus on our health and to create habits that will last a lifetime!”
